MESSAGE FROM NEW PRINCIPAL

Assalama Alaikum wa Rehmatullah:

I am deeply honored and humbled by the trust and confidence shown by the IFSF BOARD to nominate me as the new Principal of SISB Friday school for the year 2010-2011.
Inshallah, I will try to do my best to promote the Islamic spirit and educational excellence that IFSF and SISB weekend school are proud of and pledge to further the mission and inspiration of the founding members of this organization and serve the Islamic communities of South Florida.
I would like to extend my special appreciation and thanks to the previous SISB Weekend School Board, Principal Sister Yasmin, the teaching staff , PTA and volunteers who have worked diligently in the past years and hope that they will continue to help and support me in the future.
I would also like to introduce Sister Farhat Mirza, as the new Vice principal. Sister Farhat brings with her years of teaching experience and school management and is currently a senior member of Broward school district. We are indeed very fortunate to have her on our weekend school staff to provide valuable training to our volunteer teachers and learn skills for effective deliverance of education to our children within true Islamic guidelines.

NEW SISB WEEKEND SCHOOL CIVIC PROGRAMS:

The Islamic education will always remain the primary focus for the SISB Weekend School but we plan to introduce new civic activities based on the core Islamic principles and “Ikhlaq”, as of charity, mercy and goodwill.

  • Project Downtown: SISB Weekend school will sponsor one Saturday /month for Project downtown, preparing, distributing and sharing lunches made by the children themselves for the homeless and needy of our neighborhood. Grades 6-9 will participate in these activities, in accordance to rules of Project Downtown Program.
  • Interfaith Forum with Youth Groups of other faith (Jewish/ Christian etc), 1-2/year.
  • Weekend School Picnics: 2 picnics /year, arranged by Weekend school. We will try to coordinate such picnics with the STEMS full-time school.
  • Weekend School Intra-class and Inter-school debates on Islamic subjects/Occasions. I would also like to expand this to have competitive events with STEMS full time school and other Weekend schools of the area, such as GSA and Masjid-ul-Momineen etc.
  • Youth Group (14 years and above): Imam Yahya has graciously agreed to teach and work with the new SISB Youth Group. This will comprise of students who have graduated from 9th grade and older youth, who can be attracted back to the Masjid on Friday nights, under the inspiring leadership of our youthful Imam.
I look forward to working with the parents and volunteers of the IFSF and community at large to make this an educationally productive and spiritually rewarding year for our children,Inshallah!!!

Fauzia Kausar (Principal, SISB Friday Weekend School)

    MISSION STATEMENT:

The Weekend School Program is committed to the mission of providing excellence in Islamic education according to the Qur’an and Sunnah in a pleasant and receptive manner while nurturing Muslim Character. Guidance to the true and pure Islamic way of life is one of the most important gifts that we can give our children. With the help of Allah (SWT), right training and Islamic education would go a long way in making our descendants and us successful in this world and in the hereafter.

The Weekend School is committed to fostering an Islamic learning-centered community that celebrates diversity and inclusion by empowering and engaging students, faculty and staff.

     VISION STATEMENT:

Our vision is to safeguard the religion and cultural identity of our children as manifested in their Islamic beliefs and principles.

To strengthen the concept of Oneness of Allah (Tawheed)

To enhance the knowledge of Quran, and to comprehend the tradition and teachings (Sunnah), and history of the message (Sirah) of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

To correctly perform and understand the supplications mandated by Islam.

Our approach to “Islamic” studies offers children a way to relate Islam to the world around them and assimilate this into their daily lives.

To provide an environment where they can practice their religion and they can find role models for Islamic behavior and attitude.

To have a stronger community through awareness, education and action.
